Christmas is right around the corner, and we all know that the busiest time of year often gives way to hurried last-minute gift buying. But if you think that your last remaining option involves running out to the nearest big box store to scan cluttered shelves for the perfect present, think again! There's still time to give gifts full of purpose and meaning, which is why we've compiled a last-minute gift guide featuring some of our favorite organizations and products created with hope and justice in mind.
Noonday Collection - We love Noonday over at IJM, and apparently, Kathie Lee Gifford does, too! Their stunning jewelry and accessories are fashion-forward and empower women across the globe. We especially love the Bethe Rope Necklace made from upcycled metal and artillery in Ethiopia, but be sure to place orders by December 15th to receive them in time for Christmas!
Darling Magazine – A subscription to Darling is the gift that keeps on giving all year long. This beautiful quarterly magazine encapsulates “The Art of Being a Woman” and would be a perfect selection for a sister, daughter, friend, wife, or any women of substance in your life. In their most recent issue, Darling announced a partnership with IJM to help fight sex trafficking in the Dominican Republic.
Krochet Kids – As we gear up for a particularly chilly winter, knitwear from Krochet Kids will keep your loved ones warm without sacrificing style. This year, the company, which mentors, educates and employs women to make bags, scarves, hats and other goods, partnered with IJM’s Gulu, Uganda office to provide training and empower some of IJM's clients to provide for their families and become leaders in their communities.
IJM Gift Guide - IJM's 2014 Holiday Gift Catalog lets you shine a light in the darkness this year. When you give a gift to fight sex trafficking, or free individuals from a life in bonded labor in honor of a friend or loved one, you're giving a meaningful gift of hope and rescue to the poor and oppressed. The catalog has 100+ options to choose from. Sometimes, the best gifts can't be wrapped!
Ember Arts – Ember Arts checks all the boxes when it comes to companies we love supporting. They’re a family-owned business that supports a co-op of 28 women in Uganda, Africa who create beautiful fair trade jewelry made from recycled paper. This November, they named our friend Blythe Hill of the Dressember Foundation an “Ember Hero,” and will be donating 50% of online sales until December 18th to IJM in her honor!
The Locust Effect - Featured on RELEVANT's 2014 Book-Giving Guide, The Locust Effect paints a bleak picture of the plague of everyday violence against the poor. The book, written by IJM's founder and president Gary Haugen along with Victor Boutros, issues an urgent call to take action and would make a perfect gift for the world-changer in your life.
